Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Bauchi State chapter, has praised Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for organising the maiden Bauchi State Investment Summit, which recorded investment commitments worth over $5 billion.
LEADERSHIP reports that the chairman of the Summit Planning Committee, Prof. Murtala Sabo Sagagi, disclosed at the close of the event that over 47 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, covering key sectors such as agriculture, solid minerals, power, infrastructure, and information and communication technology (ICT).
According to Sagagi, one of the MoUs has already moved into a concrete investment deal worth one billion dollars, expected to become operational before the end of 2025.
Speaking with journalists yesterday, Engr. Abdulkarim Hassan, chairman of the NSE Bauchi State Chapter, congratulated the governor for the successful hosting of the summit, describing it as a milestone that had positioned Bauchi as a rising hub for investors.
He noted that the summit also provided a platform to showcase the expertise of Nigerian engineers, particularly as the venue, the newly constructed Bauchi International Conference Centre (ICC), was built by a Nigerian construction company.
“We are proud that the governor entrusted Nigerian engineers with such a landmark project. If he didn’t have confidence in our capacity, he would have hired foreign firms,” Engr. Hassan said.
He further described the summit as a reflection of Governor Bala Mohammed’s visionary leadership and commitment to transforming Bauchi State into a competitive investment destination.
“This summit was not just an event, it was a declaration of intent and confidence in the future of Bauchi. The quality of delegates, the insightful discussions, and the tangible commitments secured have set a new standard for economic engagement in the North-East,” he added.
The NSE chairman also highlighted that the summit’s success has created a solid foundation for attracting the capital needed to drive the infrastructure and industrial development in the state.
He expressed the readiness of the NSE Bauchi chapter to partner with the state government by offering technical expertise and professional support to ensure that the outcomes and agreements from the summit are translated into sustainable projects for the benefit of the people of Bauchi State.
