Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay, has finally addressed long-standing questions about her relationship status, revealing why she is not married to the father of her daughter despite their close bond.

In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the award-winning artiste disclosed that her decision not to marry her child’s father was a personal and practical one, describing the situation as “technical.”

She explained that while they share a deep respect for each other, marriage was not part of their current plans, adding that their friendship and shared parenting goals remain strong and positive.

Co-parenting with love and respect

Speaking further, Seyi Shay described her relationship with her child’s father as a healthy and supportive partnership focused on their daughter’s well-being.

“He’s great, he’s cool, he’s around. He’s Nigerian, currently in the UK, and works in the music industry on the corporate side,” she said, adding that they work closely to raise their child.

The singer emphasised that mutual understanding and respect are the foundations of their co-parenting arrangement, which has helped them maintain peace and balance despite not being married.

Motherhood changed everything

Since welcoming her daughter in 2022, Seyi Shay said motherhood has transformed her perspective on life, relationships, and her career in the entertainment industry.

According to her, being a mother has made her more intentional about her choices and priorities, inspiring her to focus on love, growth, and purpose rather than societal expectations.

The singer, known for hits like Right Now and Yolo Yolo, added that she now sees her journey as a continuous process of learning and becoming, both as a woman and an artist.
