His Highness, Eze Otisi Ikoro, Ugochinyere I, Agadaghachiri Uzo Ndigbo Lagos State, and Ezeudo Ndigbo of Ifako-Ijaiye LGA, has joined the entire Igbo nation and Nigerians in mourning the passing of Eze Hyacinth Nwabueze Ohazulike, the Eze Ndigbo of Lagos State, and Founder/Chairman, Board of Trustees, Ndigze Ndigbo in Diaspora.
In a press statement, Eze Ikoro described Eze Ohazulike as “a great leader, a true trailblazer who gave Ndi Igbo in Lagos and across the world a voice, dignity, and a sense of belonging.”
Eze Ikoro added: “Through his vision and sacrifice, he united our people, built institutions that endure, and fostered pride in our heritage. His role in establishing and financing Igbo unions, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, and various empowerment initiatives changed countless lives and strengthened our bonds as one people.
He was a leader who rose above tribe and greed, using his personal resources to uplift many. His shoes will be difficult to fill, for his wisdom and fatherly guidance came at a time when Ndi Igbo needed it most.
“On behalf of my family and the entire Ohanaeze Ndigbo community in Lagos, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family and to Ndi Igbo worldwide. May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and give us all the strength to carry forward his noble legacy.”
Eze Ikoro called on Ndi Igbo and their leaders to continue to build on the solid foundation laid by the late Eze Ohazulike. He urged them to remain united, eschew division, bitterness, and unhealthy rivalry.
He also emphasized the need for unity among Igbo people in order to effectively address the current challenges facing the nation.
