The Borno State Police Command has apprehended a mentally unstable woman suspected of killing another Internally Displaced Person (IDP) in Monguno Local Government Area.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared the details of the incident on his X account on Sunday.
According to Makama, the tragedy occurred on Friday, October 10, 2025, around 4:35 p.m., when Modu Kolomi, a resident of the RRR IDPs Camp, reported that a woman named Yagana Zara, 40, from the Water Board IDPs Camp, attacked his wife, 30-year-old Yagana Abba Butu, using a wooden stirrer.

“The suspect, who is reportedly mentally challenged, allegedly inflicted severe blows on the victim, causing fatal internal injuries. Security personnel in Monguno quickly arrived, rescued the woman from a mob, and took the victim to the General Hospital in Monguno, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Her body was later deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy and subsequently handed over to the family for burial according to Islamic rites,” Makama wrote.
He added that the suspect has been transferred to Maiduguri for a mental health assessment at a state psychiatric facility, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has opened a detailed probe into the incident.
