NDLEA Nabs 52-Year-Old With 127 Wraps Of Cocaine At Kano Airport


A 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, has been detained by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, after authorities discovered he had concealed a total of 127 wraps of cocaine in his stomach and private parts.

According to Daily Post, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the arrest on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from NDLEA headquarters in Abuja.

“Our operatives intercepted the suspect following credible intelligence. A body scan later confirmed he had ingested cocaine and concealed some in his private part,” Babafemi said.

According to NDLEA, Ejiofor, who owns boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, upon his arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941. The arrest followed credible intelligence, and a body scan revealed he had ingested drugs and concealed some in his private area.

The agency stated that 58 wraps of cocaine were initially retrieved from his pants. He was then placed under observation for excretion, during which he expelled an additional 69 wraps in seven rounds, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.

In a related development, NDLEA intercepted three separate consignments of illicit drugs destined for the United Kingdom at a Lagos-based courier company between Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10. The seized items included 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden inside glass ceramics, 114 grams and 168 grams of pentazocine and tramadol injections, and 48 grams of tramadol capsules concealed in Vitamin C containers.

Other foiled smuggling attempts involved 2.6 kilograms of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol 250mg hidden in black soap tablets bound for Turkey, 169 grams of cocaine concealed in handbags heading to Australia, and 568 grams of “loud” cannabis hidden in herbal containers destined for the United Arab Emirates.

At Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, 27,510 rohypnol pills were intercepted after being hidden in alcoholic drink sachets en route to South Africa.

NDLEA operatives also apprehended a freight agent and a cab driver connected to the shipment, and subsequently arrested the mastermind, 46 year-old Samuel Omoruyi, alias “Yellow,” at Oyingbo Market on October 2.

On the same day, Italy-based businessman Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen was arrested while attempting to export 3,700 tramadol 225mg pills and 2,600 tapentadol 200mg tablets hidden in food items to Italy. Uyimwen admitted he was trafficking the drugs on behalf of another person for a fee of €945.

In Edo State, NDLEA raided the residence of 33-year-old Emmanuel Sunday at Ugbekpe Ekperi, Etsako Central LGA, recovering 47 kilograms of skunk.

In Osun State, two individuals 48-year old Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo and 52-year-old Oladejo Taiwo were arrested at Omifufun village, Ife South LGA, after 635 kilograms of skunk were found in their vehicle. Additionally, two others, Timothy Omiwole, 41, and Isaac Achiatan, 36, were caught with 100 kilograms of the same substance.

In Rivers State, NDLEA apprehended Okoro Julius, 20, and Onyebuchi Nwibo, 25, over a seizure of 8.5 kilograms of skunk. Meanwhile, 46-year-old Sulaiman Kalalu was arrested in Katsina at Bayan Asiti, Jibia town, with 29.5 kilograms of the drug.

In Niger State, Yisa Daniel, 29, was arrested in New Bussa with 22,000 tramadol capsules, 800 ampoules of pentazocine injection, and 150,000 exol-5 pills. In Ondo State, 312 kilograms of skunk were seized from a bush at Ologede camp, Ogbese, while 141.8 kilograms were confiscated from two suspects—Francis John, 39, and Adeyemi Taiwo, 46—along the Benin-Lagos expressway.

In Kaduna, NDLEA operatives arrested 27-year-old Rufai Ahmed, also known as Farin Malam, at the Abuja-Kaduna toll gate while transporting 150,000 exol-5 pills from Lagos to Katsina.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying nationwide operations aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks and bringing offenders to justice.

The agency urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate by providing useful information that can aid the fight against illicit drugs.
