Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the players, officials, and crew were safely evacuated after the aircraft landed.

Following the news, Nigerians took to social media to express mixed emotions relief for the team’s safety and frustration over recurring aviation issues in the country. “Thank God for journey mercies,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Nothing ever works well in Nigeria.”

Others criticised the condition of aircrafts used for official trips, lamenting the use of old planes that pose risks to lives. “Which kind old plane be this sef? Na plane weh oyibo don use tire we dey us for Africa,” one user tweeted.
