Former Newcastle United striker, Alan Shearer, has said Arsenal must win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners have come very close to becoming champions in recent times, but finished in second place for the last three seasons.

But Mikel Arteta has added the likes of Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Piero Hincapie, Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera to his squad.

Shearer believes that Arteta knows there is an expectation that he would end Arsenal’s wait for the title.

He said: ““It has to be Arsenal’s year to win the Premier League.

“They’ve spent an absolute fortune, finished second for the last three years so we know, and Arteta knows that the eyes will be on him and he has to win the Premier League this year.

“When you spend the amount of money that they have, second is no good.”
