Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) still owes him a sum of $26,000 in unpaid wages.
Oliseh made the disclosure while speaking on the Home Turf podcast, where he also stated that he remains the only Nigerian coach to have voluntarily resigned from the national team job.
“Till today, I am the only Nigerian coach ever to resign,” Oliseh said. “And till today, they are still owing me two months’ salary, which is $26,000.”
The 51-year-old, who managed the Super Eagles between 2015 and 2016, added that although he could win the case if he took it to the world football governing body, FIFA, he has no plans to pursue legal action against his country.
“A lot of people have asked me to take the NFF to court. I will not take my fatherland to a western court. It starts with FIFA and I will win,” Oliseh explained. “But when they write it in the media, they will say ‘Oliseh takes Nigeria to court’. They won’t say ‘Oliseh takes NFF to court’.”
Oliseh resigned from his role as Super Eagles coach in February 2016, citing contract violations and lack of support from the football authorities.
