Umahi, Uba Sani Move to Fast-Track Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road Project Delivery

In a renewed push to ensure the swift completion of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano expressway, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, have agreed on new strategies to expedite the delivery of the multi-billion-naira project.

The meeting, held on October 10, 2025, at the Federal Ministry of Works headquarters in Abuja, also had in attendance representatives of the contractor, Messrs Infiouest International Limited.

In a statement from the minister’s office on Friday, Umahi directed the contractor to “fast-track the delivery of the two sections of the road project particularly by increasing the number of work zones between Jere and Kaduna in Kaduna State and ensuring that the project is delivered in record time.”

He stressed that the project remains a top priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration, disclosing the total cost of the road to be ₦754 billion.
According to the minister, “We have been monitoring this project almost every week, and so we insisted that we must do a meeting with the MD of Infiouest… Lot 1 is 118 kilometres, costing ₦252 billion, and Lot 2 is 164 kilometres, costing ₦502 billion.”

Umahi also instructed that the project engineer relocate to Kaduna to monitor daily progress, assuring the governor that “the President is very highly concerned to get this project done… our brothers and sisters in the North will never forget President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his love and commitment towards the development of every part of this country.”

Governor Uba Sani, in his remarks, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and the renewed sense of urgency. He described the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road as a crucial transport corridor connecting several northern regions.
“Abuja, Kaduna, Kano road connects about 12 States. States from the North West, as well as some from the North Central and North East. So it is a very important road that, by the time you complete it, many people will be very happy,” he said.

The governor further praised Umahi’s “professionalism, passion, and innovation,” describing him as “a rare gem in public service delivery.”

On his part, the Managing Director of Infiouest International Limited, Mr. Joseph Abou Jaounde, pledged to meet the new timeline.
“Even though we have some little challenges in Kaduna, from now to two weeks we are going to visit the site and ensure the portions of the road from Zuba to Kaduna are joined together to make sure that the work will be done on time in the right way and quality required,” he assured.

The statement, signed by Hon. Orji Uchenna Orji, Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Works, emphasised that the collaboration between Umahi and Governor Sani reflects the Renewed Hope administration’s drive to deliver landmark infrastructure projects across Nigeria’s geo-political zones.
