Troops Crush ISWAP in Borno, K!ll 15 Terrorists, Uncover Mass Grave

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai delivered a decisive blow to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Ngamdu, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, k!lling 15 insurgents and thwarting a multi-pronged attack in the early hours of Friday, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Military sources described the assault as a “daring but costly misadventure” by ISWAP, who launched simultaneous attacks from three flanks starting at 3 a.m.

The first wave, a diversionary assault from the Gonori axis, was swiftly repelled, forcing the terrorists to retreat with losses.

A second attack along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway involved command-detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and rocket-propelled grenades, damaging a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle’s engine and tires.

However, troops from Benisheikh broke through the ambush. The third flank targeted Alpha Company’s defensive position near the main supply route, where minor infiltration occurred but was neutralized through close-quarter combat.

Tragically, four soldiers lost their lives, and three were wounded in the intense firefight.

Intelligence from local sources revealed that ISWAP conducted a mass burial for 15 slain fighters at Bula Wura village near Wasaram within 24 hours of the failed operation.

“The terrorists came in waves with multiple tactics, but our response was professional and devastating,” a military source told Makama.

Following the attack, troops intensified clearance operations along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway, temporarily closing it for demining to remove IEDs and ensure commuter safety.

The military’s dominance in the region has bolstered local confidence, with insurgent activities declining along major highways and rural areas in recent months.
