Suspected bandits have brutally killed eight members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Dan Lutu village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, in a deadly ambush, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Local sources reported to Makama that the CJTF members were responding to a distress call about bandits planning to attack residents when they were ambushed.
Despite their courageous efforts to confront the heavily armed assailants, the vigilantes were overwhelmed during an intense firefight.
Community vigilante sources confirmed that the bodies of the fallen CJTF members have been recovered, and arrangements for their burial are in progress.
The attack shows the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara, where banditry continues to threaten lives and disrupt peace in rural communities.
The incident has sparked calls for stronger measures to protect local security operatives and curb the rising tide of banditry in the region.
