“Stop Stressing Yourself With Daily Song Releases, Be Like Rihanna” – Slimcase To Afrobeats Singers

Nigerian singer Slimcase has urged Afrobeats artistes to slow down on releasing new songs, cautioning that the excessive frequency of music drops is making the genre “less exciting.”

The singer, whose real name is Oluwafemi Oladapo, shared his concerns via his Instagram story, saying the Afrobeats scene is becoming “oversaturated.”

He noted that many artistes are subjecting themselves to needless pressure by feeling the need to release new projects constantly.

He pointed out that numerous artistes are placing themselves under unnecessary stress by continually pushing out new music.

In his post, written in Pidgin English, Slimcase recommended that artistes adopt a more balanced and thoughtful approach to releasing music.

“Too many songs too many albums. Una too Dey put una self for pressure for this Niger sha. Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna. Do other things and come back give us a fresh vibe,” he wrote.

He explained that the constant flood of new music stops fans from fully enjoying individual tracks, which in turn weakens the overall impact of the genre.

“Your sounds are getting boring cus dem be coming too much in a year. I owe dem a song this year and that’s it. It’s only God that is New every morning. Everyday every seconds singles and albums dey kiiii afrobeats gradually it’s not fun anymore,” he added.

Slimcase rose to fame in 2017 with his breakthrough single “Oshozondi,” which played a key role in popularizing the “Shaku Shaku” dance craze.

Slimcase’s signature style combines slang-filled lyrics with lively, party-ready beats. He has worked with leading Nigerian artists such as Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and D’banj.
