The Kano State Police Command has retrieved a stolen Toyota Hilux and taken into custody a woman suspected of trying to smuggle the vehicle out of the country.
The recovery followed a swift intelligence-led operation by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS), which intercepted the suspect along Airport Road in Nassarawa Local Government Area on October 6, 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, identified the suspect as 35-year-old Adama Hassan from Deba Local Government Area, Gombe State. She was apprehended while allegedly trying to transport the stolen vehicle to the Niger Republic.

The Toyota Hilux, registered GWA 998 AR, was reported stolen on September 29, 2025, from Ikeja Road in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.
“The suspect confessed to receiving the vehicle from a male accomplice from Lafiyan Lamurde LGA, Adamawa State, who is currently at large,” the statement said.
Kiyawa added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplice and recover additional stolen items linked to the case.
The Command commended the professionalism of the officers involved and expressed appreciation to residents for their timely information, which contributed to the successful operation.
“We urge the residents of Kano State to remain vigilant, observe personal safety, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” the statement advised.
Kiyawa reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, assuring the public that the police will continue pursuing criminals until justice is served.
