Odiri Erewa-Meggison, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Director, BAT West and Central Africa (BAT WCA), has been honoured with the Outstanding Corporate and Brands Communications Personality of the Decade award by Marketing Edge Publications Limited.
According to Marketing Edge, the award recognises Erewa-Meggison’s professional excellence, entrepreneurial drive, and significant contributions to Nigeria’s marketing communications sector, alongside her leadership role within BAT Nigeria.
A lawyer and Chartered Secretary, Erewa-Meggison holds a master’s degree with Honours in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury, England. She brings over two decades of multi-faceted experience spanning the oil and gas, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors.
She joined BAT Nigeria in 2006 as a mid-career recruit and rose steadily through the ranks to take on broader leadership roles, including in the wider BAT Group. Within West Africa, she served as Head of Government Affairs, West Africa Area (WAA) and Director, Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, West and Central Africa Area. Her international experience includes serving as Head of Marketing Legal at BAT Indonesia following her appointment in 2018 and subsequently, Senior Regulatory Special Projects Manager. In December 2020, she was appointed Senior Regional External Engagement and Campaign Manager for the Americas and Sub-Sahara Africa, based in Indonesia.
Erewa-Meggison returned to Nigeria in 2021 in her current role, where has been instrumental in shaping and delivering the Company’s external affairs agenda across its operations in West and Central Africa, in alignment with the BAT Group global priorities. Key focus areas include facilitating the Company’s transparent contribution to national dialogue to facilitate business and economic growth, as well as championing its sustainability agenda anchored on its five strategic pillars namely Tobacco Harm Reduction, Climate, Nature, Circularity and Communities.
The award ceremony took place on Friday, September 16, at the Balmoral Event Hall of Lagos Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja. In her remarks, Erewa-Meggison expressed gratitude to Marketing Edge for the honour and to BAT for fostering an enabling environment for professional growth:
