He shared that he faced challenges with poor grades in secondary school and even questioned whether he could complete his university degree, struggling with the psychological effects of atychiphobia.
During an open conversation with veteran media personality Frank Edoho, posted on X on Tuesday, Spyro disclosed that there was a time he thought he would end up dying in poverty.
“I thought I was going to die broke. I always had this fear of failure. And my dad contributed to that. He took every opportunity he got to always tell me that I am a failure,” he recalled.
The music star revealed that he overcame his fear of failure by cultivating a personal relationship with God.
He also revealed that he was close to quitting music and had even started a career in interior design before his breakthrough song, ‘Who Is Your Guy,’ went viral in 2022.
Spyro rose to fame when ‘Who Is Your Guy’ became an internet sensation, and his 2023 remix with Tiwa Savage cemented his status as a major star.
Later that year, the track earned the Best Collaboration award at the 16th Headies Awards.
