Senate to Address Allegations of ‘Systematic Christian Genocide’ in Nigeria

The Senate will convene on Tuesday, October 07, to debate a motion tackling claims of systematic genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

Sponsored by Senator Ali Ndume and backed by Senators Sani Musa, Aliyu Wamakko, and Ibrahim Bomai, the motion seeks to counter what the senators describe as “dangerous misrepresentations” of Nigeria’s security issues as a targeted campaign against Christians.

Titled “Urgent Need to Correct Misconceptions Regarding the Purported ‘Christian Genocide’ Narrative in Nigeria and International Communities,” the motion calls on the federal government, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and security agencies, to adopt a data-driven approach in their communications.

The senators emphasized the need for accurate casualty figures, detailed reports, and investigation outcomes to combat misinformation domestically and globally.
