Hunters’ Commander killed, 3 Bandits Neutralized in Fierce Gun Battle – Daily Trust


Commander of the United Hunters Association in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Kabiru Sani Musa Gangara, has been reported killed in a rescue operation of some kidnapped victims from Danja in Katsina State.

According to the National Commander of the United Hunters Association, Usman Taju, three suspected bandits were also neutralized during the operation, which occurred at about 7:00 am in Yakawada Ward, near Unguwar Gaga, in Giwa Local Government Area of kaduna State.

“We have also killed three bandits, one of whom was Dogo Aminu, the leader of the bandits from Galadimawa, Dabar Garke, Giwa Local Government Area.” He said.

Taju explained that the team acted upon the receipt of a report that some suspected bandits had kidnapped some people from Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State and were heading to Giwa Local Government in Kaduna state.

“It was on Saturday morning, and so we quickly alerted our men to remain vigilant and initiate action to rescue the victims.

“Interestingly, during the rescue operation, three women were rescued from the bandits. However, we lost our our Commander in Giwa Local Government, Mallam Kabiru Sani Musa Gangara.” he said.

The National Commander added that some operatives of the Association sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Ahmadu Bello University teaching hospital for medical attention.

While commiserating with the commander’s family, the National Commander urged the Kaduna State Government to look after the family of the lost and wounded operatives.

In a follow up development, the National Commander said his team had already handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of Danja Local Government along with the village head, the rescued victims who would reconnect them with their families.

Efforts to reach Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansur Hassan, were unsuccessful as at the time of filing the report.
