Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made two last-minute adjustments to Nigeria’s 23-man squad ahead of the final 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
The changes come after injuries ruled out forward Cyriel Dessers and winger Bright Osayi-Samuel.
In their places, Chelle has called up Uche Christantus to replace Dessers, while Zaidu Sanusi takes Osayi-Samuel’s spot in the squad.

The original 23-man roster was announced on Friday, but the injuries necessitated these swift replacements to ensure Nigeria goes into the crucial fixtures at full strength.
Nigeria is scheduled to first travel to face Lesotho on October 10 before returning home to host Benin Republic on October 14.
Chelle and his coaching staff will be hoping the adjustments help the team secure vital wins, particularly after South Africa’s recent three-point deduction has provided the Super Eagles with a renewed opportunity to advance in the 2026 World Cup qualification race.
These upcoming matches are crucial for Nigeria as they look to strengthen their position and secure a place at the tournament, making every squad decision critical.
