The Associate Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Toluwani Odukoya, has opened up about her separation from her husband, Olumide Ijogun, after over a decade of marriage.

Speaking during an interview on Truthtable, which she shared on her YouTube channel on Thursday, the 40-year-old gospel singer said the separation was due to “circumstances beyond her control.”

“I’m separated. Most of you don’t know that I’m separated, and that has shaped my life,” she said. “It was circumstances beyond my control. Sometimes you don’t get into a marriage to leave it. It’s a death in a way when your marriage is over.”

Toluwani and Olumide, who married in 2012, have three children — two daughters and a son.

Reflecting on her journey, she described the past few years as a season of personal loss, citing the deaths of her father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, her stepmother, and other close relatives between 2021 and 2023.

“My ex-husband is a great man, but sometimes if God doesn’t ordain you to be together and you force it, the likelihood of staying together is very low,” she said.

She emphasised that their separation was not due to wrongdoing on either side.

“We’re good people, but just not good for each other,” she added.

Despite her heartbreak, the pastor said she chose to embrace her pastoral calling, trusting God’s plan for her life.

“When the call came, I told God, ‘You know all the baggage I’m carrying, but if You call me to serve, maybe You’ve put something in me,’” she said. “I’ve decided to keep my eyes on Jesus.”

Toluwani and her brother, actor Jimmy Odukoya, succeeded their late father as leaders of The Fountain of Life Church. Jimmy serves as Senior Pastor, while Toluwani is the Associate Senior Pastor.
