First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed her commitment to health and well-being for Nigerian mothers and children.
This is even as she reiterates the critical importance of maternal and child healthcare as a central focus of the Renewed Hope Agenda spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu.
She stressed this while commissioning of the 100-bed Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Maternal and Child Specialist Hospital in Gombe State.
According to a statement issued by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady described the inauguration of the hospital not merely as the opening of a building, but as a gateway to life, hope, and a healthier future for mothers and children across Nigeria.
She stated, “Healthcare, especially maternal and child health, is at the heart of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which seeks to ensure that every Nigerian child has a healthy start in life, and that no mother dies while birthing life.”
She expressed confidence that the new facility will significantly reduce maternal and infant mortality rates while providing essential healthcare services to families in Gombe State and neighboring areas.
“It is my belief that this facility will provide quality healthcare services, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and bring relief to families in Gombe State and beyond,” she said.
The First Lady also commended the Office of Sustainable Development Goals for their dedication and hard work in establishing the hospital and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria. She urged all stakeholders, including medical professionals and community leaders, to ensure that the hospital fulfills its purpose with excellence, compassion, and integrity.
“As we commission this hospital today, I encourage all stakeholders, medical professionals, community leaders, and citizens to ensure that it serves its noble purpose with excellence, compassion, and integrity,” she added.
In addition, Mrs. Tinubu commissioned the ultra-modern New College of Nursing and Midwifery in Gombe, engaging warmly with the students who expressed excitement and gratitude for her visit.
After a successful two-day visit to Gombe State, the First Lady has since returned to Abuja.
