Kebbi Police Neutralise Three Suspected Bandits


The Kebbi State Police Command has killed three suspected Lakurawa bandits during a heavy exchange of gunfire in Dandi Local Government Area.

In a statement released to journalists on Friday, the command’s spokesman, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, explained that the incident took place when a group of suspected bandits launched an attack on Gorun Yamma village.

“Acting swiftly on intelligence, Divisional Police Officer, Kamba, SP Mohammed Bello Lawal, mobilised a joint team of policemen and vigilantes to the scene.

“The security team engaged the bandits in a prolonged exchange of fire, resulting in the death of three suspects, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.

“A red, unregistered Honda motorcycle, popularly referred to as ‘Boko Haram’, was recovered at the scene.”

While commending the success of the operation, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, lauded the bravery of the Kamba police team, stressing that their prompt intervention prevented what might have turned into another tragic assault on innocent villagers.

The Commissioner of Police ordered that the case be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi for comprehensive investigation.

He further assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to eliminating violent crimes in the state, while urging communities to stay vigilant and promptly share useful information with security agencies.
