FG Unveils 2025 Transparency, Integrity Index to Boost Public Sector Accountability

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) has launched the 2025 Transparency and Integrity Index (TII), according to a statement by Mr. Aliyu Umar, Head of Strategic Communications, in Abuja on Saturday.

In his address, BPSR Director-General Mr. Dasuki Arabi described the TII as a critical tool for enhancing accountability, openness, and ethical standards across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

“The TII is not just about rankings; it fosters a culture of transparency and responsibility that builds public trust,” he said.

Now in its fifth edition, the TII evaluates MDAs’ compliance in five key areas: financial management, corruption control, open procurement, citizens’ engagement, and human resource inclusion.

Conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI), the Index aligns with the National Strategy for Public Service Reforms (2021–2025), supports the Freedom of Information Act, and reinforces Nigeria’s commitments under the Open Government Partnership and the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

Arabi praised the support of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, development partners, and stakeholders, stating, “Together, we are building stronger institutions for a more accountable and prosperous Nigeria.”

He noted the TII’s role in complementing the efforts of anti-corruption agencies like the ICPC and EFCC.

Since its inception, the TII has driven governance reforms, serving as a benchmark for public sector performance and inspiring ongoing institutional improvements in Nigeria.
