Trinity University (TU), Yaba, Lagos, has restated its commitment to providing career guidance for SS3 students through its Campus Flaws Awareness programme.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Clement Kolawole, stated this on Thursday during the 3rd edition of the programme, held at TU City Campus in collaboration with Etiquette Poise and Protocol Resources (EPPR).

Kolawole said early exposure to career pathways helps teenagers identify interests, avoid wrong subject choices, and make informed decisions aligning with aspirations and academic pursuits.

He explained that TU aims to equip aspiring undergraduates with practical knowledge of higher education opportunities, inspiring and guiding them towards academic goals and fulfilment beyond the classroom.

According to him, challenges faced by teenagers transitioning to university highlight the need for mentorship, etiquette, and early exposure to realities of tertiary education.

“When guided early, young people avoid wasting years studying unsuitable courses. Career guidance helps them match abilities with opportunities and opens their eyes to possibilities,” he said.

He noted that TU is one of Nigeria’s 300 universities, committed to awareness creation and adding unique values to education through character formation and quality learning.

“Our uniqueness lies in godliness, responsibility, leadership, discipline, and hard work. We instil these values, rewarding excellence and correcting deviations for balanced moral and academic growth,” he added.

Speaking on EPRA, Kolawole said it helps students cultivate good character, choose healthy relationships, process information responsibly, and identify dangerous associations and situations.

He stressed that accountability applies to everyone. Sanctions exist for misconduct regardless of status, adding: “Even the vice-chancellor is not exempt, reflecting fairness and integrity in leadership.”

Kolawole revealed that TU offers 20 fully accredited academic programmes and recently gained approval to run degree courses in cybersecurity, logistics supply chain management, and biochemistry.

“We also run programmes exposing students to practical and transferable skills. This ensures creativity, adaptability, and critical thinking complement academic studies.

“By combining academics with real-world skills, we prepare graduates for leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship, producing future-ready and solution-driven individuals,” Kolawole said.

The event gathered SS students from Franklin Schools, Christ Divine, Trinity College, Motivation School, Rose International, Aunty Betty Schools, and others across Lagos and Ogun states.

Highlights included motivational talks from Nollywood actors Oluwatobi Makinde (Timini) and Juliana Olayode (Toyo Baby), who shared inspiring messages with the students. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
