Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Thursday visited Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area to commiserate with the community and families who lost their loved ones in recent attacks by kidnappers.
The governor offered prayers for the repose of the victims’ souls and praised security agencies for their efforts in repelling the assailants. He reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to restoring peace in the area and across the state.
“We have come to commiserate with the community over the attacks,” AbdulRazaq said. “I commend the security forces, forest guards, and vigilantes for their swift response in restoring peace. It has been quite challenging, but everything is being put in place to mitigate the effects and ensure such incidents are brought to an end.”
The governor also extended his condolences to other affected communities in Ifelodun, Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti, Edu, and Patigi Local Government Areas.
AbdulRazaq was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo; the State Director of the DSS; the NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed; Senior Special Assistant on Security, Muyideen Aliyu; and Chairman of Ifelodun LGA, Hon. Femi Yusuf.
During the visit, he received briefings from security operatives and community leaders, including the National President of Oke-Ode Development Association, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ajala; Elder Oyin Zubair; and the local youth leader.
The governor had earlier issued a statement mourning the victims and stressing that more must be done to protect lives and property in the state.
