The group of bandits Wednesday abducted two serving counsellors in  Maradun local government area in Zamfara state.

Reports indicate that the two councillors representing Gidan Goga and Tsibiri wards were abducted in Mareri residential layout in Gusau, the state capital.

Our correspondent reports that the two councillors were abducted in front of their house in Mareri area at about 6:50pm Wednesday.

The abducted councillors are, Surajor Dan Maliki of Gidan Goga Ward and Shehu Muhammad of Tsibiri Ward in Maradun local government also the home town of Minister of state defense Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

When contacted via phone call interview with Blueprint, the state police command’s Public Relations Officer DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the incident.

According to him, the command has deployed its anti-kidnapping team to the area to trace the perpetrators.

He further stated that efforts are on top gear to rescue the kidnapped councillors.

He urged residents to always assist with useful information on any strange movement for prompt response by the command.
