The Anambra State Police Command rescued a kidnapped victim along the Oba/Ojoto axis in Idemili South Local Government Area on Tuesday, seven hours after he was abducted by gunmen.
Reports indicate that the victim was kidnapped by armed hoodlums at Umuru Village, Nnobi, who later demanded a ransom of ₦10,000,000.
The state police command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a Tuesday statement that the Joint Command Tactical Teams rescued the victim through an intelligence-driven operation.

He added that the victim was rescued unharmed, debriefed, and reunited with his family, while operatives continue to follow leads to apprehend the hoodlums who escaped into the nearby bush after a pursuit.
The statement read in part, “Following a swift and coordinated operation by Joint Operatives from the Anambra State Police Command Tactical Team in the early hours of today, September 30, 2025, a kidnapped victim was successfully rescued at Oba/Ojoto axis, seven hours after he was abducted by armed criminals at Umuru Village, Nnobi.
“The criminal elements had earlier demanded a ransom of ₦10 million only. Consequently, the Joint Command Tactical teams, on an intelligence-led operation were immediately deployed to the location for aggressive and extensive combing.
“Under the pressure of the advancing rescue operation, the kidnappers hastily released the victim and fled into nearby bushes. The victim was rescued unharmed, debriefed, and has since been reunited with his family.
“Meanwhile, the Operatives are currently working on some clues for the possible arrest of the fleeing hoodlums.”
Ikenga further stated that the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Ikioye Orutugu, praised the operatives for their prompt action and reassured residents of the command’s steadfast commitment to combating crime, safeguarding lives, and maintaining public safety.
