Lagos Seals Event Centre, Arrests Two Over Illegal Waste Burning


The Lagos State Government has arrested two individuals and sealed Grace Garden Event Place in Lekki for illegally burning waste.

The action was confirmed by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Tuesday.

Wahab said the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) enforcement team apprehended the suspects on Monday while they were burning refuse at the venue.

He urged residents and business operators to refrain from illegal waste disposal, warning that violators would face legal action.

“Last night, the @Lawma_gov Enforcement Team apprehended two men burning refuse from Grace Garden Event Place at Bisola Durosinmi-Etti Drive, Lekki,” Wahab stated.

“The offenders have been taken to @LAGESCOfficial Oshodi HQ for prosecution: Dominic Uja (25, Benue) and Barry Macaulay (52, Côte d’Ivoire). Grace Garden Event Place will be sealed until further notice.

“We remind residents and businesses: avoid illegal waste practices. Offenders will face prosecution under Lagos environmental laws,” he added.
