The management of Starfield College, Fagba, Lagos, at the 2025 Thanksgiving ceremony held to celebrate the 88 ex-students of the college, gave thanks to God for surviving the harsh economic conditions of the country during the academic session.

Mr. Chris Eigbe, the Director of Studies, especially appreciated God for overcoming the anxiety caused by the twin technical glitches that characterised the 2025 results of the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

He said, “Glory be to the Lord. It has been an eventful year from a social angle and an educational perspective. When we started the year, there was anxiety over soaring prices of goods and services. Inflation was at an all-time high. To the glory of God, we have survived it all and are still standing, “Kampe”.

He said the anxiety created by both JAMB and WAEC created serious panic in the 88 students who wrote the examination, worries for their parents, the teachers and the management of the College thanking God for the intervention that brought succour, adding, “Students were smiling again. Our HODs have made the impossible possible. Glory be to God!”

“To the parents of these students, let me appreciate you for your commitment to their education and welfare. In the face of the examination challenges, you never gave up. Your support saw the children through. May God continue to bless you; these children will bring you honour and success in Jesus’ Name. The well you are getting the resources from to support them will never dry up!

He appreciated the teachers for their commitment and time always dedicated to getting the students through, and appreciated the students for demonstrating that challenges can only make them better.

Mrs Sara Oyinloye, the College Principal, praised God, the Director of Studies, the management of the College, teachers, students and staff for their resilience in the face of the challenging periods.

“Glory be to God. Examine yourselves today from the time you stepped into the College. Today, you are all fabulous. God has been wonderful. If you remember, the first day you came into the school, the first day you were in your pinafore, the first day you were in your shirt, and then look at yourselves today. You will know God has been wonderful.”

She added, “The Lord God, who saw you through this chapter, will see you through the next chapter in Jesus’ name.”

Pastor Moses Ogadi of Christ Elect Pentecost Church, in exhortation, praised God, the Director of Studies, other management staff, teachers and staff of the college for surviving the turbulence of 2025 and for the progress of the college at all times.

He charged the graduate students to always appreciate God because it is important to do so in the face of adversity.

He said, “Giving thanks to God is very important. Thanksgiving attracts God’s praises. If you want to attract the presence of God, cultivate the habit of giving thanks. Praise the living God. You must learn how to thank God. Before you know it, solutions will come.

“As you begin to thank God and appreciate God for every step you take in life, for every bit of progress you make in life, God will come to do more in your life. You will begin to act to attract the presence of God. If God be for us, who can be against us?”
