Two Vigilante Members Killed In Suspected Boko Haram Bomb Blast In Yobe


Two members of a local vigilante group have lost their lives in a bomb explosion suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram terrorists in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the incident in a post shared on his official X handle on Monday.

According to Makama, the tragic incident occurred on Friday, September 27, along the Damaturu–Buni Yadi Road near Madiya village. The improvised explosive device reportedly detonated around 2:30 p.m., killing the two vigilante members instantly.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Kinnafi Modu and 27-year-old Mamman Kasaisa. Makama further disclosed that two other vigilantes sustained serious injuries and were promptly taken to the General Hospital in Damaturu for medical treatment.

He noted that a police team, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Gujba alongside the Officer-in-Charge of the State Intelligence Bureau, arrived at the scene to assist in evacuating the victims and clearing the area. The security operatives were also credited with restoring calm in the aftermath of the blast.

Makama added that security measures have since been reinforced along the Damaturu–Buni Yadi Road, with tactical teams placed on high alert to forestall further attacks.

This latest attack underscores the persistent threat posed by insurgents in parts of Yobe State despite ongoing security operations.
