Two Suspected Drug Kingpins Nabbed In Lagos As NDLEA Seizes Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamine

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two suspected drug kingpins,Victor Nwosa and Felix Chika Obiegbu, following the recovery of consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine allegedly being prepared for export to Europe and other destinations.

According to Daily Trust, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, stated that the arrests were carried out by the agency’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) following weeks of meticulous intelligence gathering and surveillance of the suspects’ criminal networks.

Babafemi disclosed that 64-year-old Nwosa, who presented himself as a successful textile merchant, and 49-year-old Obiegbu, reputed to be a wine distribution businessman, were discovered to be operating large-scale illicit drug businesses.

“After months of intelligence gathering on the two syndicates they led, NDLEA operatives swooped on them in separate raids across Lagos while they were preparing their consignments for export,” Babafemi stated.

Nwosa was apprehended on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his residence at 16 Femi Kila Street, Okota, Lagos, where operatives reportedly recovered significant quantities of heroin and several grams of cocaine.

Similarly, Obiegbu was arrested on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at his home located at 5 Shada Shonefun Street, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos, where kilograms of methamphetamine were uncovered and seized during the operation.

Meanwhile, the NDLEA also revealed that it thwarted attempts by suspected drug suppliers to deliver illicit substances to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe states during separate stop-and-search operations.

In Borno State, Babafemi explained that following weeks of intelligence, NDLEA operatives on Saturday, September 27, 2025, arrested Baba Kaka Ibrahim, aged 26, at Njimtilo village while driving a Mercedes-Benz GLK with registration number JRE 987 AE toward Damaturu.

“A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of pills of Tramadol 225mg and Exol-5 stuffed in the engine compartment of the jeep,” Babafemi said.

On the same day in Yobe State, NDLEA operatives intercepted Halima Adamu along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway. During the search, parcels of Colorado, a synthetic variant of cannabis, weighing several kilograms were found concealed inside the casing of her traveling bag.

A swift follow-up operation, according to Babafemi, led to the arrest of another suspect, Habiba Muhammad, at her residence on Baga Road, Maiduguri, in connection with the seized consignment.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against drug trafficking networks across Nigeria, particularly those aiding violent criminal groups in the North-East region.
