PDP Inaugurates New Edo State Executive, Vows To Hold APC Govt Accountable

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has inaugurated its newly elected executive committee on Saturday, September 27, ushering in what party leaders described as a “new chapter” for internal unity and democratic strengthening in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony saw Dr Tony Driegbemi return as State Chairman, with Hon. Victor Enoghoma named Deputy Chairman and Hon. Henry Duke Tenebe (FCIA) as Secretary.

Other key officers include Hon. Monday Osaigbovo as Vice Chairman (South), Evang. Adekunle Oboh as Vice Chairman (Central), Barr. Richard Anetekhia as Vice Chairman (North), and Dan Osa-Ogbegie, Esq. as Publicity Secretary.

Speaking after the inauguration, the PDP stressed that the new team brings “tested experience, party loyalty, and an unflinching commitment to serve the people of Edo State.”

The party also used the occasion to outline its stance as the main opposition in Edo, pledging to support government policies that benefit citizens while resisting “oppression, waste, or deception.”

In a pointed message to Governor Monday Okpebholo and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP promised to scrutinise governance in the state, particularly raising concerns over the governor’s recent claim of a $250 million foreign investment deal.

“We will question the abandonment of projects initiated under Governor Godwin Obaseki and shine light on fiscal management practices that appear to ignore transparency and responsibility,” the statement read.

Publicity Secretary Dan Osa-Ogbegie, Esq., in his first official remarks, also addressed APC spokesperson Peter Uwadia and Commissioner for Information Paul Ohonbamu, urging them to embrace “issues-based politics” rather than insults.

“To my senior brothers and colleagues, I extend personal regards, but I must be frank,” Osa-Ogbegie said. “The habit of hurling insults at opposition figures will no longer pass unchallenged. Every false claim and every attempt to malign opposition voices will be met with facts, with records, and with a resolute defence of the Edo people.”

He challenged government officials to defend their policies with substance instead of “reckless utterances,” adding: “Let us argue on the economy, on infrastructure, on fiscal management, on the welfare of our people. Let us leave insults behind and show Edo people that leaders can disagree with honour.”

The PDP stated that the inauguration was not just about filling positions, but about repositioning the party as “the true custodian of democratic values” in Edo State.
