President Bola Tinubu has celebrated the coronation of former Oyo State Governor, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, as the Olubadan of Ibadanland, describing the event as a historic and joyous milestone for the people of Ibadan and Oyo State.
The president’s remarks came on Friday during a grand ceremony at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, where Governor Seyi Makinde officially presented Oba Ladoja with the staff of office, symbolizing his new role as the traditional ruler of the ancient city.
Tinubu, in his address, praised Ladoja’s journey to the throne, noting his resilience and dedication to public service as both a former governor and a prominent statesman.
“Oba Rashidi Ladoja is a fortunate man, blessed to ascend this revered throne,” Tinubu said, emphasizing the cultural and historical significance of the Olubadan stool in Yoruba land.
He urged the new monarch to use his position to foster unity, progress, and development in Ibadanland and beyond.
The event, attended by dignitaries, traditional leaders, and community members, was marked by colorful displays of Yoruba culture, with music, dance, and tributes to the rich heritage of the Olubadan lineage.
Governor Makinde, in his remarks, congratulated Oba Ladoja and expressed confidence in his ability to lead with wisdom and uphold the traditions of the throne.
