Ladoja Crowned As 44th Olubadan – Daily Trust


Former Governor and Senator, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has been crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan.

Daily Trust reports that Ladoja arrived Mapo Hall, venue of the historic event, wearing a white crown bestowed on him at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state.

Prior, he had received the traditional Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde will be presenting the staff of office to him at the coronation ceremony ongoing at Mapo Hall.

President Bola Tinubu who is billed to attend the event alongside the governor are yet to arrive at the venue as of the time of this report.

Ladoja succeeds late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, who joined his ancestors on July 7, 2025.

He died after reigning for one year.

Ladoja ascended the throne on Friday, nearly three months Oba Olakulehin’s demise.

Already on ground at the event, former governors, first class monarchs, Senators, House of Representatives members and state lawmakers across the country.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Ghandi Adeoye; Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale and Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, are among traditional rulers in attendance.

Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was represented by one of his Queens, Olori Ashley.

Also on ground are former Ogun Governors, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Olagunsoye (Osun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti).
