Tinubu summons ex-Rivers sole administrator Ibas to State House

President Bola Tinubu has summoned Ibok-Ete Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers state, to the State House in Abuja.

Ibas, a retired naval chief, arrived at the villa on Wednesday at about 5:50 p.m.

Ola Olukoyede, chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Wale Edun, minister of finance, were also seen entering the State House around the same time.

The agenda of the meeting was not immediately known.

On March 18, Tinubu declared emergency rule in Rivers state following an escalating political crisis. He suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers assembly for an initial six-month period.

Ibas was appointed sole administrator during the emergency rule, which ended on September 17. Fubara was directed to return to office the following day.

When the Rivers assembly reconvened, lawmakers resolved to investigate the management of state finances under Ibas’ administration. The former sole administrator has since rejected the resolution.
