On Sunday, September 21, 2025, gunmen k!lled four policemen in two separate ambushes on police patrol teams in Kogi State, making off with their weapons.
The first attack occurred around 8:00 a.m. when approximately 20 armed assailants targeted officers from the 70 PMF Kabba, attached to Isanlu Area Command, at their patrol point along Ilafin-Odogbe Road, Yagba East LGA.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that ASP Umar Suleman and CPL Bitrus Isaac were shot dead, with the attackers seizing two AK-47 rifles and 28 rounds of ammunition.
The officers’ bodies were taken to the General Hospital Mortuary, and joint security teams have ramped up surveillance, bush combing, and intelligence efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
In a second incident at about 11:30 a.m., hoodlums attacked 37 PMF personnel at Abugi outpost in Lokoja, k!lling Insp. Johnson David and Insp. Ehinola Oluwole instantly.
The assailants also k!lled a passerby, Isah Gilad, and fled with a T06 rifle and an AK-47, each with 30 rounds of ammunition.
The victims’ bodies were moved to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, for autopsy.All police formations in Kogi State have been placed on red alert, with deployments to strategic locations to prevent further attacks.
