A Nigerian videographer has narrated how he and his brother were robbed at Lawanson in Lagos by a man who flashed a gun at him.
The incident was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @oduniyi.o_, who explained that the robbery happened while he was returning from a gig.
According to him, he had just finished an event shoot at Ebute Meta and was heading home when the attack occurred.
He recounted that while attempting to cross the road to board a bus, a man suddenly stopped him midway, flashed a gun, and accused him of being a cultist.
The man then demanded his phone and began checking through his photos and files, also seizing his brother’s iPhone.
In his words: “I’ve not been able to sleep since I got robbed. I’m a mobile videographer and an event content creator. On my way back from a job at Ebute Meta, I took a marwa going to Lawanson.”
“While crossing, a guy just came, he showed a gun. I couldn’t think well; I was just accepting everything he said. The first red flag was when he claimed he was a cultist, which I knew was a lie.”
He further explained that the man accused him of wearing “cultist colors” because it was a cultist anniversary, before forcing him to hand over his phone and that of his brother. Both were made to unlock their devices.
The man then ordered him to pick ₦500 from his bag with his left hand and use it to buy something, warning that touching it with his right hand would cost him his life.
“I asked for my phone back, and he got angry, coming closer with the gun, so I got scared. He told me to go buy ‘tradition,’ but by the time I returned, he and his accomplices were gone,” he added.
By then, the robbers had disappeared with his iPhone 14 Plus and his brother’s iPhone 11 Pro.
