The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has neutralised some suspected members of the Wilayat Garb Ifiqiya, popularly known as ISWAP, on Saturday, 20 September  2025, on an Island in Chad.

According to reports from Zagazola Makama, a security and counterinsurgency expert on his verified X account, several members of ISWAP were killed in the NAF’s air strike

According to him, “The strikes were conducted after a series of air reconnaissance and interdiction mission covering the area between Gamboru and Lake Chad Island, in coordination with a Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) team operating in the theatre.

It was learnt that the operation, coordinated at the Theartre Command was carried out by the  North East Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, and it was targeted at the ISWAP fighters.

12 boats, likely used for insurgent logistics, and a number of concealed shelters believed to store weapons, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices were identified, according to reports by a source on the ground.

Makama said, “The aircraft carried out the first precision strike targeting a suspected IED-making facility. Subsequent assessment revealed insurgents fleeing in disarray.

“Over 20 insurgents were seen attempting to evacuate casualties and transport wounded fighters, indicating significant disruption to their operational capability,” he concluded.
