
The Enugu State Police command has dismissed reports claiming that the country home of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Frank Mba, in Ezimo, Udenu Local Government Area, was attacked.
Over the weekend, some section of social media had reported that the one-time spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force’s house was attacked by some persons .
In a statement released, the spokesperson of the Enugu police command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said there was no attack on Mba’s house neither was any attempt made to kidnap his parents or relatives.
‘’Contrary to the false report, on 18th September 2025, at about 8 p.m., police operatives on routine patrol within the Ezimo community promptly responded to a distress call and repelled an armed robbery attack. Sadly, a police officer who sustained gunshot injuries during the ensuing shootout later died in the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.
Meanwhile, one male suspect has been arrested and is assisting the police in the ongoing discreet investigation and m@nhunt for the fleeing suspects.”
Ndukwe added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has urged police operatives to sustain the lead already established towards apprehending the fleeing suspects. He reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Command to combating isolated cases of violent crimes in Enugu State.
