A top political ally to the former minister of justice, Abubakar Chika Malami, Alhaji Faruku Udulu, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Udulu, a staunch political ally of Malami, was seen in a video announcing his defection to the ruling party before Usman Sani Tungu and a host of other strong APC stalwarts ” we had a long standing relationship with Kebbi governor Nasir Idris and he has been consistent in our relationship hence my reason to join his team to move the state forward he said amid cheers.”

Before he defected to the ruling party, he had been a strong political ally to the former minister, Chika Malami, and he commands mass followership in Kebbi state because of his generous lifestyle, one that can shake Kebbi politics from the very foundation.

As the clock ticks towards 2027, the political atmosphere in Kebbi state is already tensed up with intermittent cross-carpeting in preparation for the 2027 governorship elections.

The sitting governor, Idris, will bank on his generosity and the critical infrastructure he has put in place within two years in office, while Malami in the opposition may bank on the coalition.
