The Lagos state government has commenced an investigation into a viral video that shows students from Excel College, Ejigbo, smoking and drinking alcohol in a dormitory.
The Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, in a statement issued Thursday, stated that his ministry regard the incident “disturbing” and it goes against the core values of the state’s educational system.
“The government has begun preliminary discussions with the school’s administration to gather the facts.
“The MBSE warned that any school found to be at fault will face appropriate sanctions in line with state policies,” Ali- Balogun stated.
The ministry’s statement reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that all learning environments are safe and conducive to students’ academic and moral development.
