Ahead of this weekend’s Laver Cup in San Francisco, USA, former World No. 1 Andre Agassi has described reigning US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz as a special talent in tennis.
The eight-time major champion, who will be the Laver Cup Team World Captain, told Tennis World that he sees the Spaniard as a unique player who embodies the ultimate qualities of the greatest players of all time.
Agassi also highlighted how Alcaraz’s ability to defend, attack, and change the pace of rallies makes him the most formidable opponent and a joy for fans worldwide.

“He is also a symbol of tennis’ bright future, and Agassi’s admiration adds another layer of recognition. Alcaraz is eager to chase the ultimate tennis records, and he will take some beating if he maintains this brutal pace!
“But first, he will enjoy his second Laver Cup. We have come off a generation with Novak, Roger and Rafa. If you take the best of what each can do, it’s like it’s become one person – Carlos Alcaraz. He can defend like Novak and has soft hands and the touch of Roger.
“He can generate RPMs and pace like Rafa. There’s also the speed, offensively and defensively. The passion keeps him fired up all the time, and he possesses the whole package. You have to hope that he gets too creative sometimes and crosses that line now and then to give you some hope,” Andre Agassi said.
