Adamawa communities submerged in fresh flood outbreak – Daily Trust


Many communities in Adamawa State got submerged after heavy rainfall, on Tuesday.

The five-hour rainfall affected houses in parts of Yola North and Yola South.

Residents of Police Barracks, Karewa, Jambutu, Rumde Baru, and Bachure, expressed shock over at the unprecedented flooding.

Lamenting her ordeal, one of the residents, Ojoma Yusuf,  despite the fact that her home is situated in a highland area of Yola, she experienced flooding firsthand.

“Water filled my rooms and destroyed some of my documents,” she said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa,  SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, told newsmen that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, had deployed marine police for rescue and emergency operations.

According to him, Dankombo had personally visited flood-affected areas, including Limiwa, Rumde, Shinko, and Jambutu, to assess the situation and coordinate necessary assistance.

The Commissioner advised residents of the affected areas to remain calm and ensure the safety of their families and property.
