At last the corpse of a 3-year-old baby, Haneefa, swept away by flood in Zaria last week has been found.
Haneefa’s remains were discovered after a week of following heavy downpour that flooded her and sister Fatima in Tudun Jukun Zaria.
A statement issued by an official of Nigerian Red Cross Society Zaria Division, Mal, Abdulmumin Adamu said, “The remains of Haneefa was discovered at Gangaren Kilaco Gyallesu in Zaria Local Government area of Kaduna state.
“This discovery concludes the search and confirms that all the flood victims have now been accounted.”
Our Correspondent reports that on September 8, 2025, heavy rainfall resulted in severe flooding at Tudun Jukun, Tukur Tukur Ward, in Zaria that led to the death of 2 students, Fatima Sani Danmarke, a student of School of Basic and Remedial Studies Funtua and Yusuf Surajo known as Abba.
Haneefa, a 3-year-old baby who was backed by her sister Fatima was missing.
Confirming the discovery, a grand father of the deceased Mallam Suleiman of Layin Adamu Mai Aljana, Magume said her remains was recovered and brought back to them.
Suleiman said that the deceased’s father, Sunusi has left for Umrah (lesser Hajj) before the incident.
“I was called around and informed that late Haneefa body has been discovered today. So I rushed home and found out that what I was told was true.
“We then organized for funeral prayer and susquent burial of the deceased at about 1pm.
“Remember that we had earlier performed Salatul Gaib prayer (prayer for an undiscovered corpse) after magrib prayers at the Isa Cikon Kwami mosque in Magume.” He said
Suleiman prayed for those that assisted the family during their trying moment and appreciated all that contributed in all ways towards the discovery of his grand daughters body.
