Peter Rufai Funeral Programme Announced By Family


The family of former Super Eagles goalkeeper and captain, Peter Rufai, fondly known as Dodo Mayana, has announced the details of his funeral programme following his passing on 3rd July, 2025.

Peter Rufai, who was born on 24th August, 1963, will be laid to rest in Lagos, with a series of events lined up to honour his life and legacy.

Peter Rufai: Service of Songs and Biography Presentation

According to the programme signed by Sunny Bruce Rufai on behalf of the family, proceedings will begin on Thursday, 21st August, 2025, with a Service of Songs and the public presentation of his biography at Raji Rasaki Estate Field, Off Raji Rasaki Road, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.

Funeral Mass and Interment

A Funeral Mass will follow on Friday, 22nd August, 2025, at the Catholic Church of Visitation, First Avenue, FESTAC Town, Lagos, at 10:00am, with interment immediately afterwards at Ikoyi Cemetery.

Thanksgiving Service

The ceremonies will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 23rd August, 2025, at the same Catholic Church of Visitation, FESTAC Town, starting at 8:00am.

Peter Rufai, a legendary Nigerian goalkeeper, was widely celebrated for his heroic displays for the Super Eagles, particularly at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia which helped that national team win, 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States and the 1998 edition in France
