The Obidient Movement has appealed to former President Goodluck Jonathan to support Labour Party’s Peter Obi rather than contesting against him in the 2027 presidential election.
The call followed a closed-door meeting between Jonathan and Obi on Thursday.
Obi later shared photos of the meeting on his X handle, describing Jonathan as “a very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader.”

He added that their discussion focused on the state of the nation.
Although there has been speculation that Jonathan may declare interest in the 2027 presidential race, he has yet to make any public pronouncement.
The Obidient Movement, however, urged him to step aside in the interest of fairness and progress.
Speaking on Friday, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Yunusa Tanko, stressed that while both Jonathan and Obi are respected figures, Obi remains the preferred choice of millions of Nigerians seeking a new direction.
“They have been friends for a long time. The meeting was for them to fraternise and discuss how to rescue Nigeria,” Tanko said.
“But for us in the Obidient Movement, it would be great if Jonathan remains the respected statesman he is known for.
“He has done his best as President, he is respected, and this is the time for him to support his brother.”
Tanko emphasised that Jonathan’s legacy as a statesman would be better preserved if he supported Obi rather than contesting.
He noted that the movement sees Obi as the candidate with the vision to address Nigeria’s challenges.
