Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially begun her attempt to break the Guinness World Record by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice, with a target of 250 bags of rice.
The record-setting chef, who shot to international fame in 2023 after surpassing the longest cooking marathon record, kicked off her bold new attempt at Eko Hotels in Lagos, drawing an energetic crowd of fans and supporters.

Prior to the commencement of the cooking, Hilda and her mother prayed together, seeking God’s strength, protection, and resilience for the challenge ahead.

The heartfelt moment moved the crowd, with many spectators praising Hilda’s mother as a major pillar of support in her journey.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making,” she wrote on Instagram on Friday.
Originally scheduled to hold at Muri Okunola Park, the event was relocated to Eko Hotel following massive interest, as more than 20,000 people signed up to attend.
