I’m Restoring Lost Glory Of Amuwo-Odofin Communities – LG Chair – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

Executive Chairman of the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Lanre Sanusi, has declared that his administration is not concentrating merely on restoring the lost glory of Festac Town, but the various  communities that make up the council.

Sanusi spoke on Thursday during the visit of a delegation of the Central Executive Council of the  Festac Town Residents’ Association (FTRA), led by its President, Mohammed Adesina Adegbenro, to his office.

In a detailed presentation of the major governance focus of his administration to the residents’ association, the council chairman, in a statement by Kolawole Folorunso, a media aide, appreciated Festac residents for supporting his party at the last council poll.

He called on the residents’ association to join efforts with his administration in the environmental renewal of the Federal Government Estate built in 1977, that is today a shadow of itself.

Going further, Sanusi justified his action in the demolition exercises embarked on by his team to ensure the estate regains its place of pride as the best planned estate in Africa.

Speaking earlier, Adegbenro commended the council chairman for walking the talk to rid the town of its environmental menace within just six weeks of assuming office.

Adegbenro noted that within such a short time, Sanusi is today arguably the most outstanding among his peers, especially in his relentless drive to reconfigure Festac Town to international standard.

Speaking on his 100 days in office, the council chairman promised to run a transparent and accountable administration, clearly accessible to the residents of Amuwo Odofin who voted him into office.

He promised to present his score-card to residents of the LGA in November.

The chairman unfolded his plan to rehabilitate the long abandoned 7th Avenue Road, complete ongoing reconstruction of the equally busy 23, 5th Avenue, 52 and 51 Roads, among others, soon.

The delegation then offered prayers for the LGA chairman for a successful tenure in office, describing his efforts so far as a stepping stone to a higher ground in future.
