Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 campaign.
The deal, completed ahead of the Turkish transfer deadline on Friday, comes after the Cameroon international was left out of United’s opening three Premier League matches under new manager Ruben Amorim.
His only outing this season was in the shock Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby.
Signed for £47.2m from Inter Milan in July 2023 as David de Gea’s replacement, Onana has made 102 appearances for United and helped them to FA Cup glory in 2024.
However, his spell at Old Trafford has been overshadowed by inconsistency, with errors leading to him losing his starting role.
United moved swiftly to reinforce the goalkeeping department, signing 23-year-old Belgian Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for an initial €21m (£18.1m) on deadline day. Amorim now has Lammens, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton as his options between the posts.
United wished Onana “good luck” in announcing the move, which remains subject to international clearance and registration.
