The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a five-day nationwide warning strike set to begin on Friday.
The announcement was confirmed on Thursday, by Agbor Affiong, General Secretary of the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration.
According to the statement, the decision followed an online National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which commenced on Wednesday, and extended into the early hours of Thursday.

“Arising from the NARD E-NEC meeting held on Wednesday, the 10th of September, 2025, which extended into the early hours of Thursday,” the statement read.
“The NEC members unanimously resolved to embark on a five-day warning strike.”
“The strike will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, and will end on Tuesday, 16th September 2025.
“All centres are hereby directed to duly inform their hospital managements and continue to press home our collective demands.”
Speaking further, Agbor Affiong said, “Our members have shown remarkable patience over persistent poor working conditions, shortage of essential power supply, and the continued downgrading of our professional certificates.
“This strike is a necessary step to draw urgent attention to these issues.”
NARD President, Osundara Zenith, also emphasized on Tuesday that the association’s members “intend to press the government to immediately address salary discrepancies and improve hospital infrastructure.”
He added, “We also seek to ensure adequate welfare packages for resident doctors nationwide.”
He added, “We are committed to our patients, but we cannot continue to operate under substandard conditions that compromise both our wellbeing and the quality of healthcare delivery in the country.”
