After the week-long brick-bat occassioned by unresolved issues in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) factions, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Wednesday, officially recognised a former President of the Senate, David Mark, as the party’s National Chairman.
Former Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was also named the party’s National Secretary.
The recent development has put to rest ensued leadership crisis that has plagued the new coalition.
The self-appointed party National chairman Nafiu Bala had earlier kicked against the Mark-led leadership, tagging it “a group of hijackers.”, while threatening court action.
However, information posted on INEC’s platform has other members like the ADC’s National Working Committee (NWC), who were also recognised by INEC as Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi (National Publicity Secretary), Mani Ibrahim Ahmad (National Treasurer), Akibu Dalhatu (National Financial Secretary), and Prof Oserheimen Osunbor National Legal Adviser among others.
Earlier, the old National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC, led by Chief Ralph Nwosu, had on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, officially dissolved itself, a development that signalled the official hand-over of the party’s structure at the national level to the David Mark-led interim national leadership.
Issues pertaining to possible change in leadership, it would be recalled, cropped up at the party’s 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja a few weeks ago.
The NEC meeting was the last official meeting to be convened by Chief Ralph Nwosu-led leadership.
